Meet
Jesus.
You may have heard His name your entire life. But who is Jesus, why did He come, and what does He have to do with you?
Few questions matter more. Christianity rises or falls on the identity of Jesus Christ. Before asking what Christianity can do for you, the first question is much simpler: Who is Jesus?
More than
a teacher.
Jesus of Nazareth was a real person who lived in first-century Israel. He taught publicly, gathered disciples, performed miracles, was crucified under Roman authority, and was proclaimed alive again by His followers.
But the Bible makes a far greater claim than simply calling Jesus a wise teacher or religious leader.
Scripture identifies Him as the eternal Son of God who entered human history — fully God and fully man — to reveal the Father, fulfill God’s promises, save sinners, conquer death, and reign as King.
Is Jesus
really God?
Something
is broken.
We were created to know God, but every one of us has sinned. Sin is more than making mistakes. It is living in rebellion against the God who made us.
Because God is holy, our sin separates us from Him.
Morality cannot erase it. Religion cannot erase it. Good intentions cannot erase it.
We need more than improvement.
We need rescue.
Why did
Jesus die?
Jesus did not die because His mission failed. The cross was the mission.
Sin carries a real penalty. At the cross, Jesus willingly stood in the place of sinners. The One who had no sin took upon Himself the judgment that we deserved.
He died in our place so that we could be forgiven.
Death did not
get the last word.
Christianity does not end with Jesus in a tomb. His followers proclaimed that on the third day the tomb was empty and Jesus physically appeared to them alive.
The resurrection is not a side detail of Christianity. It is central to it. Jesus conquered death.
Questions worth asking.
Is Jesus the only way to God?
Jesus made an exclusive claim: reconciliation with God comes through Him. Christianity does not present Jesus as one spiritual option among many, but as the Savior who alone dealt with humanity’s sin.
Can’t I just be a good person?
The issue is not whether we are better than someone else. God’s standard is His own holiness. Salvation cannot be earned by accumulating enough good works to outweigh our sin.
What does Jesus want from me?
Jesus calls us to repent, believe the gospel, and follow Him. He calls us to trust Him as Savior and submit to Him as Lord.
Can Jesus really forgive me?
Yes. The gospel is not an invitation for people who already have their lives together. Jesus came to save sinners.
This is the
good news.
God created you.
You were made by God and for God. Humanity was created to know Him, glorify Him, and live in fellowship with Him.
Sin separated us from God.
Every person has sinned. Our sin leaves us guilty before a holy God and unable to repair that relationship ourselves.
Jesus took our place.
Jesus lived the sinless life we could not live and died the death our sins deserved. He bore our judgment on the cross.
Jesus rose from the dead.
Jesus defeated death. His resurrection confirms who He is and gives eternal hope to everyone who belongs to Him.
Salvation is received by faith.
Salvation cannot be earned. God offers forgiveness as a gift. We receive it by turning from our sin and placing our faith in Jesus Christ.
What do
I do now?
Recognize your sin and turn from living life apart from God.
Trust in Jesus Christ, His death, and His resurrection as your only hope of salvation.
Receive Jesus not merely as someone who saves you from judgment, but as the Lord of your life.
You don’t have to know everything to take the first step.
